The EBP came into school recently to promote NCS with a follow up lunchtime session on Tuesday 20th February. All students have been given information packs to bring home and will be offered a 30% early-bird discount if returning their sign-up forms to school by Friday 23rd February. Meaning they can access NCS for just £35!

NCS is a once in a lifetime opportunity for 15 to 17 year olds to take part in following their Year 11 exams (over 18’s can attend if they have additional needs or special circumstances). The programmePrint is voluntary and independent of school, and aims to bring a diverse social mix of young people together from all walks of life to form groups that work successfully together in order to achieve amazing things for themselves and their communities. Young people taking part will develop valuable life skills and enhance confidence levels and aspirations. NCS gives young people a framework to present their skills and experiences in interviews and on future job applications, and is acknowledged by UCAS as an extremely valuable addition to personal statements. All places cost a maximum of £50 (one-off fee) and financial bursaries can be provided to those who need it.

The EBP has been delivering NCS across Lincolnshire since 2011, with over 7000 local young people benefitting from taking part in the programme. This has resulted in fantastic feedback and the continued demand for what has been described as a life changing experience. The EBP is delivering NCS across Lincolnshire and we hope your son or daughter is able to join this exciting opportunity.

Your son or daughter in Year 11 has just received information in school about the National Citizen Service (NCS). NCS is a nationwide personal and social development programme which supports young people to develop new skills whilst undertaking worthwhile social action activities in their local community. NCS includes challenging activities, away-from-home residential experiences and self-designed social action projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people from all backgrounds and ability levels to come together to build confidence, meet new people and to make a positive difference.

NCS runs three times a year during school holidays, however young people can only do NCS once! Your son or daughter is currently eligible for the Summer 2018 programme which runs for 4 consecutive weeks starting at various intervals throughout the summer holidays.

Phase 1 – Adventure

Monday to Friday residential stay at an outdoor activity centre, taking part in adrenaline-fuelled activities such as High Ropes, Climbing, Archery, Kayaking, Zip-wire. This weekend builds team-working, communication and leadership skills as well as developing confidence and getting to know the team in a fun environment. (Transport and food provided)

Phase 2 – Discovery

Monday to Friday residential stay in student accommodation at Nottingham University, taking part in a wide variety of workshops such as first aid, self-defence, creative media, health and well-being, and business challenges, building a stand-out CV and developing important skills for work and life. (Transport and food provided)

Phase 3 – Social Action

A chance to make a difference and have a say in the local community, young people on NCS spend two weeks using all the skills they’ve developed so far to put together their very own social action project, designing, planning and delivering it, to make their mark and leave a lasting impression in their local area.

Graduation

A chance to celebrate everyone’s achievements on completing NCS where all NCS graduates receive a certificate signed by the Prime Minister.Outdoor activity
