Welcome to the Sixth Form

Welcome

Geography Sixth Formers laughing

Sir William Robertson Academy Sixth Form is proud to be a small, formal Sixth Form based in a rural setting committed to the academic success of its students.

Since the Sixth Form began in 2012, it has gone from strength to strength. We have upheld a 100% A Level and Level 3 BTEC pass rate for the past two years and have seen our students move on to fantastic destinations. Universities our students are bound for in September 2017 include Loughborough, Leeds, Newcastle, Liverpool and Lincoln. In addition to this some of our young people were able to secure apprenticeship opportunities with RPS and Lincolnshire County Council.

We achieve our outstanding results through careful, personalised curriculum planning, excellent teaching, rigorous assessment and tracking of student progress and regular supportive guidance for our students. We aim to treat each student as an individual and cater for their specific needs both in terms of learning and their destinations after Sixth Form. The active support of parents and carers is invaluable to us and working together, we believe we can ensure that our students achieve the very best results possible.

We have the highest expectations of all of our students and demonstrate this through an unwavering commitment to our Code of Conduct and Working Agreement, which are signed by all students and parents upon beginning the Sixth Form. These documents outline our expectations, explain our dedication to our students and formulate what they have the potential to achieve whilst studying with us. We believe that by consistently enforcing these expectations – from high attendance to a formal business dress code – we can develop excellent habits in our young people which will ensure strong examination performance and build the right habits to be successful in future employment.

We proudly prepare our students for the demands of life after Sixth Form.  We ensure that our students have unique opportunities for work experiences and personal development through our Enrichment programme. All Year 12 students have at least one week of relevant professional work experience and planned sessions about work readiness, which includes CV building and interview preparation. This allows our students to be prepared for the competitive nature of the world of work. Our Enrichment programme ensures that our students develop into well-rounded individuals, giving them the opportunity to have experiences beyond their studies including visits from guest speakers and a variety of clubs including debating, sports and marketing.2Fast2Soon Talk

We know that young people are ambitious and Sir William Robertson Academy Sixth Form shares that ambition and wants to support our students to achieve their full potential.

Admissions

The entry requirements for the Sixth Form are that students should have achieved five or more 9-4 grades at GCSE including English and Maths. Students should also have achieved at least a grade 5 or 6 (depending on the course) in the subject they wish to pursue at A Level or Level 3 BTEC study. Further information about individual course requirements can be found in the prospectus.

All students pursue 3 subjects throughout their time at Sixth Form. The exception to this is our BTEC Extended Diploma programmes, which are full-time courses that are the equivalent to three A Levels.

We warmly welcome students who wish to join our Sixth Form from other schools. Our aim is to make them feel a part of the success and opportunities that we have to offer. If you are a prospective student who would like to discuss joining the school, please contact Miss Wilson (Head of Sixth Form) on 01400 272422. If you would like to visit the school for a tour and additional information, please contact the school office.
