Upper School Awards Photos

We were delighted to welcome so many families to our Upper School Awards Ceremony last Thursday, 23rd November.  This was an occasion where we celebrate the success achieved by individual pupils in last year’s Year 9 and Year 10 (current Y10 & Y11).

We were pleased to have Mr Stephen Petherbridge as our Guest Speaker at the Awards last week who gave a fantastic talk about Aspirations and the three rules in life. Mr Petherbridge started life with humble beginnings in the North East of England and has been really fortunate to experience a diverse professional life. His career began at 16 joining the merchant navy as a trainee navigation officer. After partially qualifying in the navy he left to work for John Lewis as sports shop manager in Southampton.  Eventually he went to work in recruitment, climbed up the ranks to a board position and then set up, ran and sold two major teaching agencies, the latest being Vision for Education which was sold to TES (Times Education Supplement).  In between all of this he became a professional pilot and flight instructor and has chaired and been a member of a number of charity groups and public boards. He hopes that his experiences prove that no matter where you start from anything is possible!

Mandy Moran, Vice Chairman of Governors welcomed the students and their families to the special event, followed by Charlotte Pearce, Y11, who sang a beautiful rendition of Take Me to Church by Hozier.  Headteacher, Mr Guest then gave his review of the year followed by the presentation of the Awards with Deputy Headteacher, Mr Steve Grant with the students being presented with their gift vouchers and trophies by Mr Petherbridge.

Well done to all our students both for their Subject, Special & Outstanding Attendance Awards.  We are very proud of your achievements!
