Posted by Suzanne Alexander

Sir William Robertson Academy was delighted to welcome locally born Invictus Games athlete, Nathan Cumberland, as our guest of honour at the Post 16 Awards Ceremony on Monday 19th DSC_0147December where the school celebrated the success achieved by individual pupils in last year’s Year 11 and Year 13. The event was the last of its three Awards ceremonies to celebrate the achievements and success of their students over the 2015/16 academic year.

Nathan Cumberland helped present students with the GCSE and A Level awards before going on to present a number of special trophies for outstanding achievement, attendance and recognising the school’s Academic Scholars and Head Boy and Head Girl. Mr Cumberland addressed the audience of over 220 people taking them on a journey through his career in the Army, adjusting to life since his injuries, his work with the charity that helped him ‘Help for Heroes’ and his new career as an Invictus Games athlete. It was a very thought provoking and entertaining address taking everyone through a rollercoaster of emotions.
